Kall Kwik embraces Mtivity to drive print-on-demand across its franchise network.

The Challenge

In recent years Kall Kwik has seen its core print business become increasingly commoditised. Its franchisees have experienced increased levels of competition and the challenge of having to win work on a job-by-job basis.

Through a strategic planning process Kall Kwik recognised that it needed to build competitive advantage through innovation, finding new ways to deliver value-added services to clients. Research with corporate brands showed that medium and large companies wanted to move to a trusted single source provider for all print communication needs.

To meet the changing needs of both their corporate and SME clients, Kall Kwik formulated a new strategy which it named D2D (Design to Delivery). Kall Kwik's objective with D2D is to provide a wider range of marketing-related services in addition to its core copying and print services. Examples of such services include design for marketing, sales campaigns and other corporate communications such as direct mail, wide format, digital and lithographic printing and a full logistics service. D2D is also designed to improve brand management of clients' printed material through the use of templates; streamline fulfilment and distribution of marketing material with web-based ordering and workflow; and give clients visibility of marketing processes through online marketing management tools.

The objective for Kall Kwik is to manage more of the marketing supply chain on behalf of its clients, winning a greater share of its clients' marketing spend and moving to longer-term service contracts.

To underpin its strategy, Kall Kwik Corporate Brands needed a robust e-commerce platform to help manage its D2D clients. After evaluating several solutions, Kall Kwik selected Mtivity as its preferred e-commerce technology partner.


The Solution

Kall Kwik chose the Mtivity e-commerce platform because of its broad functionality, which incorporated marketing as well as print processes. The solution was Mtivity Catalogue, a marketing services platform designed to streamline and automate marketing services processes.

Mtivity Catalogue provides the ability to centralise and store a wide range of marketing materials, including but not limited to print items. The materials are grouped in catalogues and published to end-users via the web. End-users can order or download the marketing materials that they need. Mtivity Catalogue then links orders received to Mtivity's powerful marketing workflow tools to automate the customisation, fulfilment, and distribution of marketing materials. Kall Kwik manages Mtivity Catalogue on behalf of its customers, creating and managing catalogues of assets, as well as managing the fulfilment and distribution workflow.
