John O'Connell, Non-Executive Chairman
John is a high profile entrepreneur in the UK Software industry, with a number of investments in the sector. His goal for Mtivity is to help create another software world champion in the UK emulating Staffware’s success, which he founded as a pioneer of the workflow/BPM software industry. Staffware listed on AIM in London in 1996 and then went onto the main LSE market in 2000. As Chairman and CEO he led the sale to Tibco Software Inc. for $260 million in June 2004. Staffware had offices in 20+ countries, employing approx. 400 staff with more than 500 clients/partnerships, internationally, growing at an average compound rate of 40% annually over 8 years.
John is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and was recognized as a Master of Information Technology by AIIM International. He has co-authored the book ‘Mastering Your Organization's Processes’, published by Cambridge University Press.
John is past Chairman/co-owner of London Wasps Rugby Club Holdings Ltd. He is also an active philanthropist, being a Patron of the Prince’s Trust a high profile UK charity, and a Liveryman of the City of London, sitting on Entrepreneurship Panel of The Information Technologists Company.
Russell Pope, Non-Executive Director
An experienced corporate financier, Russell joined Hotbed in 2006 from KBC Peel Hunt where he led the pre-IPO practice. He was also responsible for the unquoted client base and managed a portfolio of private company investments. Russell has led Hotbed's growth capital investments in Keronite, Empathy Marketing and Mtivity.
Prior to KBC, Russell trained as a Chartered Accountant at Arthur Andersen where he worked in the corporate recovery and turnaround teams before joining the corporate finance department as a director.
John Morrison, Non-Executive Director
John Morrison is a director of Alliance Trust Equity Partners ("ATEP"), the private equity division of Alliance Trust PLC. ATEP's direct investments in venture capital target early stage, high growth, technology opportunities with a focus on enterprise software and healthcare companies based in the United Kingdom.
John is a chartered accountant who has focussed exclusively on making and managing early stage venture capital deals since 1996. During this period he has successfully completed and managed several technology transactions and taken board positions on several portfolio companies.
