John O'Connell takes Chair at Mtivity
28 November 2007
Mtivity, an innovator in marketing and print management software, today announces the appointment of John O'Connell as Chairman of its Board of Directors. A successful entrepreneur and founder of former workflow leader Staffware, O'Connell joins as an investor in the company to lead it on an aggressive growth path.
One of O'Connell's main objectives as Chairman is to capitalise on the company's partnership with Xerox Global Services, a relationship that positions the Mtivity software as part of Xerox's worldwide print management and creative services portfolio. O'Connell will also help the company in broadening its distribution channel and support continued investment in its range of products and services.
"John's experience adds significant depth to our Board", said Patrick Kremer, CEO, Mtivity. "His impressive track record with Staffware, which he built from scratch into a global leader operating in 28 countries and led through successful flotation and acquisition, promises a new approach to our company's growth and its future success."
"As an investor, I am always on the look-out for businesses aspiring to be global leaders in their field", said John O'Connell. "Mtivity certainly is one of them - it has developed a strong Software as a Service proposition, and its technology partnership with Xerox Global Services, underpinned by excellent customer references, indicates great potential for the company. I look forward to helping the team build on this platform, leading Mtivity to future global success."
John O'Connell is recognised by AIIM International as one of Europe's top entrepreneurs. After managing 24 years of consistent growth as founder, Chairman and CEO of workflow and business process management software company Staffware Plc, in 2004 he initiated its successful $250million (£123million) acquisition by Tibco Software Inc. Since then, O'Connell has invested in and chairs several growing technology companies, including the AIM-quoted Portrait Software Plc.
Apart from his entrepreneurial and investment activities, O'Connell is also Co-Founder and Patron of the Technology Leadership Group of the Prince's Trust, a networking forum which has raised over £5 million in the last 4 years towards The Trust's Business Programme.
O'Connell is also Chairman and co-owner of London Wasps Rugby Club, holders of the 2006/2007 European Rugby Cup. "I firmly believe a winning attitude in sports translates into a winning attitude in business", concluded Mr. O'Connell.
